PASSPORTS RENOVATION BY MAIL

Places allowed for the application of passports via regular mail

Citizens residing in the states of Hawaii, Washington State, Oregon, Alaska, Utah, Arizona, Nevada, Idaho, Wyoming, Montana, North Dakota and South Dakota may apply for renewal by mail. Bolivian citizens residing in the State of California may not apply through this procedure.

Requirements for the application of passports by regular mail

All requirements listed below will be mandatory and any of them that are missing will result in the application being denied and returned. The requirements are as follows:

Expired passport

1. Fill out the passport renewal form on computer correctly. The information on the form must be similar to the data shown on your expired passport.

A. In case of errors in your previous passport, the person must show through a Bolivian identity document and a birth certificate that the last passport contained an error. The consular officer will review the information and evaluate whether the documentation included is sufficient to make the correction, otherwise the application will be returned unprocessed with a note explaining the reason and possible solutions.

B. In case of updating information in regards change of marital status, inclusion or exclusion of a married name in the case of women. You must include the Bolivian marriage certificate (with your cancellation in the back if you change from married to divorced) or the Bolivian death certificate to include in that application and proceed with the update.

2. The original passport expired.

3. A notarized ACKNOWLEDGMENT of the passport’s simple copy and in which the notary certifies the identity of the interested party (the legend may be in English or Spanish).

4. A passport size photograph (2x2 inches), white background, front, without glasses, no smile, no accessories in the hair. If you wear long hair, make sure it does not cover your eyes.

5. The payment of $ 85.00 through the Card Payment Authorization Form or Money Order (this must be filled in the name of CONSULATE OF BOLIVIA)

6. A correctly labeled return pre-paid envelope to receive your return document. Remember that, for the security of your document, it will be preferable to have a dark color envelope with tracking system of the package.

Theft or Loss of Passport

1. Original report of theft or loss of passport to the local Police Department of your city of residence.

2. Fill out the passport renewal form on computer correctly. The information on the form must be similar to the data shown on your expired passport.

NOTE: It is not possible to apply by mail to Bolivian passports for the first time. Any applicant who obtained the dual citizenship abroad Bolivia and does not have a Bolivian identification number must visit our Office.

Procedure

Once the application has been received, the consular officer will check that all the aforementioned requirements are met. If the process is correct, it will be registered in the system and the fee will be charged as long as the applicant included the form. Once the passport is captured at the consular office, the passport will take up to two weeks to arrive at our premises and a couple days more to reach the interested party.

In case of not fulfilling one of the requirements (including the money order). All the documentation will be returned immediately with a note explaining the reasons and possible solutions.
