PASSPORTS RENOVATION BY MAIL

Places allowed for the application of passports via regular mail

Citizens residing in the states of Hawaii, Washington, Oregon, Alaska, Utah, Arizona, Nevada, Idaho, Wyoming, Montana, North Dakota and South Dakota may apply for renewal through mail.  But Bolivian citizens residing in Californiacannot apply through this procedure.

Requirements for the application of passports by regular mail

All requirements listed below is mandatory and any missing requirements will result a denied application. The application will be returned until everything is filled completely. These are the following requirements:

 

 

 

 You must fill out the passport renewal form in your computer correctly. The information on the form must be similar to the data shown on your expired passport.

  1. In case of errors in your previous passport, you must show your Bolivian identity document and a birth certificate whichhas to prove that your last passport contained an error. The consular officer will review the information and evaluate whether the documentation contains a substantial error. Otherwise, the application will be returned declined with a note explaining what you should do in order to fulfill your requirements.
  2.  In case of any updated information regarding the changes in the marital status, inclusion or exclusion of a married name (in the case of women,) and other personal information, please include the Bolivian marriage certificate (with your cancellation in the back if you change from married to divorced) or the Bolivian death certificate. If you want to change your current status, you must show us your Bolivian documents.  (U.S documents cannot apply).

3. If your original passport expired,

A notarized ACKNOWLEDGMENT of the passport’s copy and in which the notary certifies the identity of the interested party (the legend may be in English or Spanish).

4. A passport size photograph must be (2x2 inches) with white background, front, without glasses, no smile, no accessories in the hair. If you have long hair, make sure it does not cover your face.

5. The payment is $ 85.00 and must be done through the Card Payment Authorization Form or Money Order (this must be filled in the name of CONSULATE OF BOLIVIA)

6.  A correctly labeled return pre-paid envelope to receive your return document is needed. Remember that, for your security regarding your personal information,we prefer you to use a dark color envelope with tracking system of the package.

 

Theft or Loss of Passport

1. Original report of theft or loss of passport must be reported to your local Police Department of your city of residence.

2. Fill out the passport renewal form on computer correctly. The information on the form must be similar to the data shown on your expired passport.

A. In case of errors in your previous passport, the person must show through a Bolivian identity document and a birth certificate that the last passport contained an error. The consular officer will review the information and evaluate whether the documentation included contains substantial errors for corrections. Otherwise, the application will be returned unprocessed with a note specifically explaining what will be needed in order to proceed your application.

B. In case of updated information in regards change of marital status, inclusion or exclusion of a married name in the case of women. You must include the Bolivian marriage certificate (with your cancellation in the back if you change from married to divorced) or the Bolivian death certificate to include in that application and proceed with the update.

3. A simple copy of your lost passport or your original Bolivian identity document (it does not matter if it is current or expired).

4. A notarized ACKNOWLEDGMENT of the passport’s simple copy and in which the notary certifies the identity of the interested party (the legend may be in English or Spanish).

NOTE: It is not possible to apply for Bolivian passports through mail if it is your first time. Any applicant who obtains a dual citizenship will not need a Bolivian identification number when visiting our Office.

Procedure

Once the application has been received, the consular officer will check for all the prior mentioned requirements to be met. If all the requirements are met, it will be registered in the system and the fee will be charged where the applicant must include in the form. Once the passport is processed with all the following measures at the consular office, the passport will take up to two weeks to arrive at our premises and a couple days more to reach the interested party. In case of any missing requirements (including money order), all the documentation will be returned immediately with specific instructions indicating what information must be fulfilled.
